Some common causes of damage to the scalp and hair roots, causing hair loss

Normal Shampoo

“common” shampoos are all made using chemical ingredients, these ingredients can cause damage to the scalp and hair follicles. PEG ( polyethylene glycol) is an ingredient used in many shampoos and hair care products, it is a type of plastic. In order to get the shampoo to work into a lather, PEG is added to the origingal soap ingredient. The detergent produced blocks the pores on the scalp, compromises the body’s endocrine system, and alters the natural production of oils, which help to maintain a healthy scalp and head. The detergent produced is unable to break down and return to a form of nature, it winds up contaminating grey water, which ends up in the rivers and oceans.

Hair Care Products

Other products used daily by many people including hair sprays, hair gels, and conditioning treatments also contain PEG. In these products PEG is used to coat the strands of hair, making them appear smooth and shiny, of course, they are covered in plastic! This coating technique is similar to varnishing furniture, making a dull surface appear more vibrant, of course the human body is not furniture, this coating technique blocks the skins pores and clogs up the hair follicles.

Natural Shampoos and soap bars

You may think ‘natural’ shampoos and soap bars are better alternatives, however unfortunately this soap bar can also damage the scalp and hair. This soap is high alkaline, a normal soap bar has a PH level of 11, liquid soap has a PH level of 9.5, and neutral PH level is about 7, if these soaps were bought down to a neutral PH they would not create a lather. High alkaline causes the hair cuticles to open, this is the technique used in hair dying, an alkaline solution is applied to open the cuticles, then the colour is applied to the hair. The hair becomes dry and damaged.

After a long process and many hurdles overcome, our products became Australian certified organic, meaning all the natural food ingredients used have had no contact with any chemicals. Our shampoo has a neutral PH level of 7.5, it is very mild on the scalp and hair. The key ingredients are green tea extract and soap nuts ( a natural nut from a tree grown in Asia containing Saponin, a natural soap which helps our shampoo to lather and clean the hair). Our Organic conditioners key ingredients are green tea extract, Apple cider viniger, to close the hair cuticles and make it smooth and shiny , cocoa butter, jojoba oil, safflower oil, to nourish and moisturise the hair and herbal extracts to heal damaged hair and stimulate hair growth. The PH level of the conditioner is 4.5, to close the hair cuticles.
